Previously, Nubank implemented self-service tools that would make it easier to produce and consume datasets and data governance policies and tools, initially managed by a central data platform team, to enforce data quality. However, as the business scaled, they realized that the central data team “did not have the domain expertise or capacity to curate and maintain all key datasets.” To address this problem, they adopted an organizational model wherein analytics engineers – responsible for ensuring data quality, compliance, and cost – are embedded into business units.
