To tackle data science talent scarcity, Liv Up (a D2C healthy food startup based in Brazil), developed a framework to grow from within. This framework, which defines career progression for data analysts, hinges on clear expectations and constant feedback. Analytics career ladders (for ICs and managers) are based on the core mission of the team (to promote data informed decisions) and their four primary responsibilities (coordinating data capture, transforming data, metric design and visualization, and analysis and presentation). Liv Up also developed a snowflake rubric which enables analysts to progress up the career ladder by demonstrating proficiency in at least one set of skills (i.e. related to technique, execution, community, or support). Feedback, in 1on1s and performance reviews, is communicated to analysts using the ladder and snowflake rubric.
