To enable collaboration among globally distributed production teams that create and share content, Netflix developed Netflix Drive – a scalable, performant platform for storing and retrieving assets. Users, applications, and workflow orchestrators can interact with Netflix Drive through a FUSE-based POSIX file interface or API and Polled Task interfaces. In addition, Netflix Drive may include multiple data stores (e.g. local storage to support low-latency reads, cloud storage to persist the final encoded copy of data) and has a metadata store that maps the file system hierarchy to the data store entities and powers authentication and authorization.
