Search is critical to the user experience of many consumer and enterprise applications. In this post, Hugo Galvão and Daniel Doro describe how the organizational structure of Spotify Search evolved as the company expanded and its business needs to be changed. First, Spotify reorganized its Search function such that each team would be responsible for one layer in the Search stack. However, this organizational structure made it more challenging to collaborate with other internal stakeholders and coordinate across teams within Search. In response, they created a Search Relevance team to focus on Spotify user satisfaction and a Search Platform team to focus on developer experience.
