On Growing Up
I was born in Cambridge, Massachusetts, pretty close to Boston, but my family moved to Daytona Beach, Florida when I was about two and a half. Growing up in a small beach town shaped much of my childhood. With four sisters, I found solace in skateboarding and basketball, both of which became passions of mine.
On Getting into Recruiting
After attending the University of Central Florida and studying human communication, I moved to California. It was there that I found my passion for recruiting, initially sparked by an internship during college where I built a team for a nonprofit organization. This experience showed me how fulfilling it is to bring together a cohesive team, and cultivated my interest in recruiting as a career.
On Career Insights
My professional journey in recruiting began in San Francisco, where I worked at an agency, gaining exposure to hunting down the best talent for all types of clients and roles. I later went in-house at Segment. There I met Natasha and Nate who would later become colleagues at Amplify. My diverse experience in both agency and internal recruiting at Segemt, Meta and Weights&Biases has equipped me with valuable insights into building successful teams.
In my years as a recruiter, I've found that attention to detail is crucial in defining realistic search parameters and managing expectations. Additionally, I advocate for a proactive approach to diversity in hiring, emphasizing the importance of building diverse teams from the outset to foster inclusivity and retention.
On Working at Amplify
At Amplify, I work with founders on team building through identifying and attracting top talent that aligns with their company's vision and values. My passion for fostering inclusive and vibrant company cultures ensures that each hire contributes to the success and cohesion of the team, setting the foundation for long-term growth and innovation.
On Life Outside of Work
I lead an active lifestyle, enjoying outdoor activities like walking, skateboarding, and playing basketball. With a passion for sports, I follow the NBA (Orlando Magic) and college football. I also cherish time with my family in San Diego and continually strive to become fully fluent in Spanish.
