My Grandpa
Growing up, my favorite memories were story times with my grandpa. He was a man of multitudes—passionate about science and an entrepreneur who built small businesses in New Mexico. He often reminded me of the opportunities available in America, instilling in me both a love for science and an appreciation for the American Dream.
Early Ventures in Business and Science
In high school, I dedicated my time to research, specifically developing new energy storage and computing materials. This eventually led to an opportunity to work with Global Good, a research lab supported by Bill Gates and Nathan Myhrvold. I took a gap year to pursue my research, which evolved into a four-year project.
Transition into Funding AI and Science
Following my research, I joined Schmidt Futures, a venture philanthropy founded by former Google CEO Eric Schmidt. There, I funded datasets and AI models in areas beyond language, video, and vision—such as robotics, mathematics, and biology. I also began advising early-stage technical founders during this time, helping them turn breakthrough technologies into viable businesses.
This experience naturally led me to Amplify Partners, where I found an opportunity to align with a firm that shares my passion for working with deeply technical founders. At Amplify, I often focus on identifying and supporting top technical talent before they even consider starting a company.
My Role at Amplify and Investment Philosophy
At Amplify, I prioritize building relationships with technical talent early in their journeys, long before they contemplate founding a company. The most transformative partnerships begin well before the first round of funding. I aim to be a trusted resource during these early stages, offering support whether or not they pursue a startup.
When startup founders do take the leap, I aim to be the partner they turn to. I believe the most impactful companies are led by technical founders who deeply understand the problems they’re solving and are driven to create lasting solutions.
At Amplify, I’m dedicated to helping these founders scale their ideas into transformative companies, providing support from the earliest stages of their journeys.
Outside of Work
In my free time, I enjoy staying active through soccer, cycling, and surfing. I also love hosting dinners, a tradition that began during my time in New York.
