Mark LaRosa is an Operating Partner at Amplify Partners. He works alongside Amplify’s portfolio companies to execute a go-to-market plan that is custom-built for their market and customer base.
Mark specializes in helping technical founding teams win their first set of marquee customers, develop a technical strategy and outbound messaging both for immediate and long term growth, and determine proper sequencing, prioritization, and big-picture thinking for the product roadmap and features.
With more than 15 years of experience in infrastructure, database/analytics, and global-scale distributed systems, Mark has a diverse background in both the private and public markets, having served in a variety of capacities in systems design and architecture, product implementation, and enterprise sales. Mark is equally comfortable as a builder deeply immersed in technical minutiae as he is designing and closing very large scale enterprise deals at a full spectrum of company stages. He has directly helped close billions in deal value over his career with deals ranging from an early-stage company’s first Fortune 50 customer win to deals worth multiple billions of dollars in ARR with the world’s largest technology companies.
Prior to Amplify, Mark was a Principal Solutions Architect at AWS’ Strategic Accounts division, where he was responsible for one of the largest customers in AWS history. He led the effort to revamp technical go to market strategy within the account, as well as personally architecting some of the most strategic projects that landed the largest early wins. This resulted in nearly 2000% growth in just under 2 years of his tenure and culminated with the closing of the second largest single deal that AWS has ever done. He also worked closely with AWS and customer executives to strengthen the essential executive to executive relationships on strategic accounts that were traditionally tough to broker.
Earlier in his career, Mark has held various technical sales and solutions architect leadership roles at Interana, MemSQL, and Coraid. It’s in these roles that he served as a player-coach, landing at the company in very early stages to serve as the first Solutions Architect. In each opportunity, Mark functioned as an early outbound Product Manager by acting as a sensor in the field for early feedback and feature needs and additionally helped close early marquee customers to jumpstart the go to market effort. Subsequently, he would go on to build and expand the team to scale the company and functioned as a VP of Solutions Architecture.
Mark received a BS in Computer Science Engineering and a Masters in Human-Computer Interaction from the University of Michigan. Mark lives on the Peninsula in San Carlos with his wife and three children under the age of seven. He also loves to compete in auto endurance races throughout California, and one day strives to win 24 Hours of Lemons.
