Lyft is open-sourcing Clutch, a platform for managing cloud-native infrastructure through a single pane of glass, built on a Go API back-end and a React UI. While the new cloud technologies that emerge every week are becoming easier and easier to adopt, managing and scaling these technologies is much more challenging – and responding to alerts and outages can be a nightmare. To address this problem, Clutch enables infrastructure teams to provide intuitive and safe interfaces for infrastructure management to growing engineering teams. Clutch’s Go backend abstracts heterogeneous systems behind a unified protobuf-driven API with common authorization, observability, and audit logging. Its React frontend makes it easier and more efficient for developers to add new features. Clutch, which can be easily configured or extended, ships with the ability to manage platforms such as AWS, Kubernetes, and Envoy, and is designed to be extensible to other components.
