Often, data teams must demonstrate their ROI including justifying headcount expansion or increased budget for tooling and infrastructure. However, Barry McCardel argues that the most effective ROI case is one made on behalf of the data team by other stakeholders. He puts forth several recommendations on how data teams can impact and impress other functions (e.g. Marketing, Operations, Engineering), including by adopting new organizational structures, aligning with strategic objectives, and leveraging tools that facilitate sharing and collaboration.
